What we offer

We can teach you to paddle a canoe, kayak, stand up paddleboard and train you to national governing body qualification standards. There are no hidden costs when you book with us - equipment loan and BCU certification is included in the cost of the course or session. The only extra you will asked to pay for is car parking or site entry at some venues and this will be advised in advance.
We can also sell you surfboards, stand up paddleboards, wetsuits and all the equipment you could ever need for a day at the beach or on the river.

Our staff
All our staff are members of the British Canoe Union (BCU) – the national governing body for paddlesport in the UK - and hold nationally recognised qualifications in outdoor activities.

Andrew

Started Andrew Rudge Kayaking in 2008. Prior to this he has paddled for far too many years than he cares to remember and is a qualified teacher. Andrew has experience of canoeing and kayaking throughout the UK and France. He currently holds BCU Level 3 Inland Kayaking and Slalom Competition (Level 1) coaching awards.

Cliff

cliff

Also known as Stiffy the Smurf. Cliff is our newest Level 1 coach and will never miss an opportunity to get out on the water and can regularly be seen paddling his yellow Bliss Stick on the Severn or in Wales.

Phil

Is currently working on his qualifications to become a coach. He has completed his safety and rescue training and assists with coaching to help fulfil the number of hours he needs to become qualified. Phil is a confirmed kayaker, but evidence does exist of him paddling a canoe.

Jonny
Jonny is studying to become a geologist and doesn’t tell his mum what he’s been paddling at weekends! Jonny helps out during busy periods and whenever he’s not hammering bits of rock. He started paddling when he was only nine and is a Level 1 coach and a qualified raft guide. Jonny has paddled all over the world either for fun or as a member of the British White Water Racing team. Jonny is a great asset as a river guide due to his vast experience of rivers and his ability to find fun on every river feature.

Pam

pam

Apart from being Andrew’s long suffering wife, Pam helps to organise equipment and people on paddling days. When you ring us with an enquiry it is usually Pam you will speak to first. Pam is also a qualified teacher and regularly paddles with our staff and friends. She loves Wavesport boats and can be persuaded to cook yummy flapjack for paddling days.

Meg

meg

Our collie dog who was rescued from a cruel farmer. Meg enjoys canoeing and is always eager to make new friends both on and off the water. She has a bad habit of standing on the gunwale of canoes and trying to play football with mooring buoys in the middle of lakes.

Our philosophy

If it’s wet – it can be paddled!

We are the only kayaking business in Telford operating to nationally recognised standards. We have a passion for being out on the water. All our staff are dedicated paddlers who place their commitment to the sport before personal profit. Our company runs on a "not for profit" basis and any income generated is invested in equipment, training and providing our clients with the best possible service.

We are a family business with over 20 years paddling experience, offering top quality coaching in a variety of local venues. We offer complete packages for all aspects of canoeing and kayaking from introductory sessions to nationally recognised training and assessment courses to suit both individuals and small groups regardless of ability or experience.

Environmental commitment

In addition to supporting several environmental charities and groups, we pride ourselves in our commitment to a zero waste policy. Even old equipment that can’t be passed on due to safety considerations is given a new role in life – such as hanging baskets from old helmets!

We encourage car sharing, have a close working relationship other businesses in the local area and encourage everyone to remove their waste from the river bank.
